Redstone Simulator and Updates

So, I’ve been accepted to my first choice college (yay!). So I have a little bit of free time on my hands. I’ll try to spend around an hour each day going through and updating the app. Hopefully I’ll have some nice weekly updates.

Well, let’s see how this goes!

Update Complete!

It has been quite an eventful couple of days. Over the course of a six hour plane ride and a stay at a beautiful Hotel on Lake Tahoe, I finished updating the Redstone Simulator. I probably should have slept, but I had the unfortunate experience of sitting next to a crying baby. The update itself mainly added:

  • Redstone Lamps
  • Pistons and Sticky Pistons
  • Repeater Fix
  • Bug Fixes

There were probably a few things I forgot, but they’re still in there! I suppose the next goal is to refractor the code, improve efficiency, and add in a help page. I also got a request for viewing the schmatic in 3D, but will hold off on doing that until more people are interested.

Either way, Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Bug Fixes

So I spent the greater part of today working on fixing some issues with the simulator. I added in pistons (sticky and normal) and Redstone lamps. They’re working as they should, so I’m pretty satisfied with that.

Unfortunately the app is not quite ready to update, because there are still a few things left to do:

  • Implement Resizing (the code to actually resize is there, but I need to implement a user interface for it)
  • Fix Redstone Repeaters
  • Crash Fixes

I’ve gotten a few e-mails (quite a few actually) regarding issues with Redstone repeaters. Redstone repeaters facing the right and down are updating much faster than those facing up and to the left. I’ve identified the issue (it has to do with how the circuit is updated), and am implementing a fix. So thankfully (and hopefully!) that issue will be over and done with.

Everything looks like it’s going well, and the application will be (finally) updated on December 15th.

If there are any other issues that you think I should know about, send me an e-mail at clark@kleric.org.

Thanks!

Redstone Simulator

Here I am once more, ready to get back to updating this simulator. So what’s been taking me so long?

College Applications and School Work

For the past few months, I’ve been working on keeping my grades steady while finishing up my college applications. I haven’t really had much time for updating this application, and I apologize.

Fortunately, I’ve finished most of my college apps, so I can finally begin work on updating the Redstone Simulator. I’ll try to make this next update awesome ;)

Anyways, you can probably expect an update around December 15th or so, so see you then!

Checking-In

Just in case anyone was wondering about the current status of the app, I’m still working on it.

I’m finishing some college applications at the moment, so things are really slowing down. I’ve added in some of the new blocks, but am working on really improving the look and feel of the app itself.

Anyhow, if you have any suggestions, just send an e-mail to clark@kleric.org.

Thanks!

Mission Start

Once more work is continuing on the Redstone Simulator. If there are any specific features that you would like me to consider adding in this new edition of the simulator, please e-mail me at clark@kleric.org.

Plans for this New Edition Include

  • Redstone Lamps
  • Pistons
  • General Bugfixes
  • Crash Fixes
  • Improving the “Look” of the app
  • Basic tutorial on Redstone
  • Resizability of the Circuit
  • Redo of Redstone Logic to follow more closely to that of Minecraft.

I’m still in school so I generally don’t have too much free time. I will continue to work on it in my free time and during my free periods. Don’t expect to see an update too soon because there’s a lot of things to address in the application.
